“Circle Dance” is one of those poems and paintings that come from those special moments in art when the mind stops thinking and things just begin to flow into existence. I find it’s these kinds of finished paintings that leave so much room and space for YOU, and me as the viewer, the interpreter, the other side of all art.
By that I mean to say that art is meaningless without you, without a viewer, because at it’s essence all art is “a communication” from one to another individual. No matter how abstract or illustrative it may be, it still reduces down to individuals A communicating something, and if there is no individual B, well, you get the idea.
All I can really say about this piece is that it’s a love song of some kind. One that made two people dance as if there was not another care, or worry or concern anywhere in the whole world. Seeing them joyously, dancing in their circle leave all the space and freedom necessary for us to know that feeling when just the idea of a gentle kiss was enough to set your lips and your dancing shoes on fire. Life and love, like art can be like that.
If it was possible once, then it is possible again.
