“Standing There” is part of my High Fashion Collection. I don’t know why exactly but I enjoy seeing someone put together clothing that steps up and out of everyday life and begins to speak to the gods of art.
I remember being in Paris writing, I was very young, and I saw a woman get out of a taxi. Her outfit was a rich yellow, everything right down to the designs on her shoes were so perfectly matched and coordinated, it was like getting hit by a force of some kind. The saying, “Took my breath away,” is actually a real thing. The whole experience lasted only a moment, as she exited the taxi and entered a building. Yet, Here I am these many, many years later telling you about her.
Even though I never met her, or ever knew her name, I still dedicate my “High Fashion Collection” of painted poems to her in a quiet, thankful way. She taught me that there is indeed, walking – talking art.
